Coaster | Free Crochet Pattern

This is an easy crochet snowflake coaster free pattern for beginners to make. It is a crochet hexagon pattern. I was inspired by the snowflakes to design this crochet coaster. It is perfect for using up your leftover yarns. This pattern is written in US terminology.

Yarn

• Alize cotton baby soft

• 50% cotton, 50% acrylic

• Wt. 100g – 3.53OZ

• Length: 270mt - 295yds



I’ve crocheted this coaster using a different yarn, and I love how it turned out. I've designed the coaster using 2 different yarns, so that you can have options on whatever yarn to choose to crochet this coaster with.

Hook and other materials used

• 3.5mm hook size, US hook size: E/4 - (used with Alize cotton baby soft)

• 4.5mm hook size, US hook size: 7 -(used with Deramores Studio Anti-Pilling DK 100g)

• Scissors

Skill level:

Beginner friendly

Finished size/measurements

5” in diameter using Alize cotton baby soft yarn

5.5” in diameter using Deramores studio Anti-pilling DK 100g

Gauge

18sts by 9rows = 4” (dc)

Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain gauge.


Abbreviations

• Ch: Chain

• St: Stitch

• Dc: Double crochet

• Fptc: Front post treble crochet

• Sl st: slip stitch

• Sp: Space

• Rep.: Repeat

• Yo: Yarn over

• Rnd: Round


Special Stitches

• Treble Crochet (US terminology): it is like dc except that in treble crochet we should yo hook twice.

• The beginning ch 3 is considered as dc.

INSTRUCTIONS

Rnd1: ch5, sl st in the 1st ch to form a ring, ch3 (considered as a dc here & throughout), 2dc, ch1, *3dc, ch1,* rep. from *to* 4 times, within the ring, sl st in the 3rd ch of the 1st dc to join.

Rnd2: sl st in the next 2sts, sl st in the next ch1 sp & make ch3, 2dc, ch1, 3dc in the same sp, *in the next ch1 sp make 3dc, ch1, 3dc,* rep. from *to* 4times, sl st in the 3rd ch of the 1st dc to join.
